In July, 2007, my daughter Anne and I traveled to Matènwa, a rural community in Haiti. We were there on the urging of Moscow educator and radio host, Nancy Casey. Nancy has spent much time in Haiti over the past 10 years, working with community members on a variety of educational and small rural development projects. Anne and I visited Matenwa to learn about Haitian culture, and to see what future role we might play in the community.
The Phillips Farm is a 160-acre natural area used by Moscow High School Science classes as an outdoor laboratory.
Students participate in a citizen monitoring program to map and monitor local amphibians.
